Amuse yourself
From “Never again will I doom the earth because of man…” By: God By J.D. Longstreet.
The argument goes something like this. Man cannot destroy the world, since Genesis 8:21 says so. Therefore, Global Warming is a conspiracy by scientific illiterates. Yes I cringed in embarrassment too.
Ignoring the scary implications of the prevalence of this kind of superstitious crackpottery, consider the somewhat amusing (I thought so anyway) excerpt below:
Then they [the Global Warming conspirators] use the guilt trip they have imposed on fellow human beings to shame us into completely altering the way we live. It is the oldest con game in the book. And the peoples of the planet are falling for it.
I wonder which book that might be ![]()

But doesn’t Jesus want us to drive fuel efficient cars?
I’m confused.
Without making this a Bible class, that interpretation makes no sense to me, it seems to clearly say that God won’t smite the Earth because man is evil, not what man can do to other men. Of course, all that talk about “hurricanes are God punishing Americans for being gay” looses its credibility.

Andrew, for the survival of a non-concept, it must be ill-defined. This is why you have “this interpretation” and “that interpretation” in religious dogma. No interpretation “makes sense”, since it is logically absurd. As a result, we see splitting to form factions who war with each other. This behaviour is not restricted to what most recognise as a religious establishment. It is prevalent in typical interactions with people who are illiterate in reason.
One Christian might point to another and proclaim, “He/she is not a real Christian, since he/she reviles homosexuals, while they should be tolerated and shown the word of God to cleanse them of their sin”. Another Christian might point to that Christian and proclaim, “He/she is not a real Christian, since they tolerate homosexuality”. Whoever is right or wrong is unimportant. The true observation is that neither is right or wrong, nor could they possibly be right or wrong. Both of them are “not even false”, which is a third value of a truthfulness trichotomy.
The undefinedness is not what makes it not even false, but it is an extremely common symptom of non-existing ideas purported by intellectually bankrupt individuals. Some call themselves “moderates” or “fundamentalists” to portray what they have been convinced is their understanding of the world around them.
“Islam is a religion of peace. If you reject this proposition, then you are an infidel and are subject to death.”
I hope this alleviates your confusion somewhat

“neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.”
Actually God is saying he will not smite again, not that man cannot smite. So, you would do best to attack the reading comprehension ability of the individuals who propogate otherwise.
This also means that hurricanes and earthquakes, which cause smiting, are no longer caused by God, since he no longer smites - phew. so, by that definition the endogenous forces within this system are the cause. we are a force within that system, ergo we are partially to blame.
