Hey,
Perhaps you have some positive feedback going on here? Is the pain causing you to use the joint in a way that causes more pain?
Considered maybe Feldenkrais or Alexander Technique?

Hi pl,
The joint simply cannot be used - I am experiencing what I believe is bone impingement on the tips of the tibia and fibula during dorsiflexion. I have tried to push past this, despite the pain and there is a very definite block and it is not possible to push through it even when a large force is applied. I have tried various forms of physical rehabilitation, but I am convinced that until I can get passed this clear mechanical block, then it is only futile. Thanks for the tips.

Hi Tony,
I’m basing this off an assumption that information obtained from the MRI’s is accurate. Aware that could be a bold assumption to make but could there be a problem in the knee, hip or back causing a problem in the ankle?
As for the two therapies I mentioned, despite the new-agey associations I think there’s something to be said for the way both of them make you focus on awareness of how you move/sit/stand. At the very least you may prevent further damage to anything that is injured and anything that depends on it… which could ultimately help diagnosis.
Anyway, good luck!

I have been entertaining a hypothesis recently: bone fragment in the subtalar joint.

Hi Tony,
There might be some YOGA exercises that can help you.
No promise, but I have known some people with serious joint problems who benefited from these YOGA.
And I know some people who couldn’t even walk the stairs due to serious arthritis problems but who eventually managed to get back to normal .
It won’t rid you of your problems in a few days but you can actually the difference as you go along.
There’s nothing mystical about these YOGAs and they aren’t taught by some quack new-age GURUS…
No magic potion there let me tell you and no hypnotism either, but if you are unable to find a solution to your problem let me know……

I think I have it worked out. A non-unioned fracture of the tip of the lateral malleolus.
